About Us

Vlier Products, a Hutchinson Company, was founded by Blaine Vlier and William Coop in 1943 in Burbank, California. Vlier initially supported American efforts in World War II, engineering parts for use in the manufacturing of military build-ups of bombers, fighter planes and battleships. In 1949, the company’s American ingenuity was used to create what would become its flagship product, the Vlier Pin. Designed to fixture small parts in tight, compact spaces, Vlier Pins have perfected many manufacturing lines and products.

Vlier Products’ history of success can be tied to the precision engineering of each of the over 3,300 standard parts offered in our extensive catalog. In addition to meeting demands on time and on budget, Vlier holds ISO:9001 and AS9100 certifications, internationally recognized Quality Management Systems that hold the company to first-rate quality standards and give assurance to customers of this quality.

Tremendous growth and a relentless pursuit of excellence led to Vlier becoming a Hutchinson company in 2000. With a history spanning 170 years, Hutchinson Worldwide employs 40,000 people and has manufacturing facilities in more than 25 countries producing a wide range of defense, aerospace, automotive, industrial and consumer products. Today, Hutchinson  is a global leader in vibration control, fluid management and sealing technologies.

Hutchinson’s extensive experience across industries was a perfect fit for Vlier’s detailed focus on precision engineering. Vlier parts—including spring loaded devices, Vlier Lock Pins, mechanical components, quick release devices and leveling devices—are found in military aircraft, the International Space Station, credit card readers, surgical instruments, rollercoasters, high-speed rail and more. The application of our products is near limitless.
